Radio Interviews
There are 3 radio interviews and performances new to the interview archive, although they're all at least a couple years old. I heard them all before the archive even existed but just discovered I left them out for some unknown tragic reason. Even if you've heard them before, check them out again. The new additions: WYEP 7.29.02, KEXP 8.24.02, and KEXP 4.4.03. The WYEP session includes what may be my favorite Hem radio performance ever, an incredible acoustic version of "All That I'm Good For." You can get your own copy of that recording on WYEP Live & Direct: 3 Decades - 3 Discs.

New Christmas Song with Hem and REM Star Power
The Christmas tune "Jesus Christ" is now available for download! It's a cover of the Big Star song and a collaboration between Hem's Sally Ellyson and REM's Mike Mills. This song will do nothing to help stop the HEM = REM rumors that Hem likes joking about at their concerts, but it will help a good cause. Proceeds of this fantastic available-online-only single benefit the Red Apple Foundation, so go get yourself a copy. You can find the song at least at eMusic, Rhapsody, and iTunes, and it even has a MySpace page.

Bob Edwards Show Interview
A reminder: Hem will be a guest today on The Bob Edwards Show. The show airs on XM Satellite Radio on channel 133 at 9am, 10am, and 8pm, with a repeat tomorrow at 7am. Hem should be on in the second half of the show. If you miss the interview, it should be available here at All About Hem in the next week or two thanks to the good folks at the Bob Edwards Show.

New Christmas Song
Mark your calendar: The Christmas tune "Jesus Christ" will be available for download online starting next Tuesday, November 28. Sally Ellyson lends her voice to the song while REM bassist Mike Mills provides the music. Paste has a little article about the very cool collaboration here. The article doesn't mention Hem's other recorded tie to REM, the cover song "South Central Rain" on Hem's album No Word From Tom. I'll post links to the song once it's available. (Incidentally, there's another new Hem holiday tune in the works, so stay tuned for more news about that on another day.)
Bob Edwards Show Interview
Make another mark on your calendar: Hem will be a guest next Monday, November 27 on The Bob Edwards Show. The show airs on XM Satellite Radio on channel 133 at 9am, 10am, and 8pm. Hem's last visit to the show was fantastic, so be sure to tune in again. I'll post another reminder closer to the air time.

January 2007 NYC Tour Date
Tickets are now on sale for the January 20 New York show mentioned here a week ago. Hem is one of five great acts in the lineup. I don't think the show has been completely officially confirmed, but once/if it is, I'll post another notice here in the news.

New Tour Date
It's tentative at this point, but the tour page still has its first entry for 2007. Hem will probably/maybe be at the Bowery Ballroom in New York on January 20 (a Saturday, which creates a large temptation to go to NYC for a weekend concert). Once the show is confirmed (or not), I'll post another notice here in the news.

Detroit Radio Show
On October 2 Hem visited WDET, Detroit Public Radio. The station aired Hem's in-studio performance on October 19, and now the show's online. You can hear Hem play 4 songs (of course including Michigan favorite "Half Acre") by clicking here. As a reminder, thanks to Hem's camera-wielding pedal steel player, you can click on the mini image on the left to see a picture of the band at the radio station for this performance. Both the audio and the photo are available through the 2006 tour archive.
October 20 Falls Church Show
Even more songs (this time from Eveningland) have been added to the slowly growing setlist for Hem's October 20 show in Falls Church, VA. (Thanks, Barney!)

Country Standard Time Article
The November edition of Country Standard Time includes a nice article about Hem. In it, Dan speaks at good length about songwriting and making each of Hem's albums, emphasizing the most recent Funnel Cloud and thankfully working in the album's unofficialkeyword "magical." There's also excellent news that Hem's fifth album should be in the works mid-2007 and that they're recording another Christmas song now (last year it was the Winter's Nightcompilation contribution "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," which you can download for free at Hem's website, although you can't get much else there - when did all those mp3 links break?!). You can find a permanent link to this article at the interview archive.
Meanings Update
The Funnel Cloud meanings page has a couple new entries courtesy of the Country Standard Time article. Check out new song insight from Dan about Great Houses Of New York and Not California.
October 2 Ann Arbor Show
There's one addition to the collection of photos from Hem's October 2 stop in Ann Arbor, MI. It's just a picture of a ticket, but I'm happy to have it. (Thank you, Mom!) Click on the little image to the left to see all the pictures from this concert. Permanent links to them are at the tour pictures and 2006 tour archives.
October 20 Falls Church Show
