February 28, 2004 -- Charity auction |
The great folks over at the fan-run site pattygriffin.net have set up for the second year the Patty Griffin Birthday Fund Drive, a fundraising event for VVAF's Campaign for a Landmine Free World that runs until her birthday on March 16. As part of the drive, they're offering a number of autographed guitars on ebay, including one signed by Hem at their last show in Pennsylvania. The auction runs March 7-14, and you can find it by searching for "Hem" or "Patty Griffin." Many other excellent autographed guitars (including ones signed by Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Richard Thompson, Kathleen Edwards, Damien Rice, and many more) will be up for bid, so be sure to check it out. |
February 21, 2004 -- Discography Update |
I made a number of updates to the discography section. There's now complete information for the "Half Acre," "Rabbit Songs Sampler," and "All That I'm Good For" promotional CDs and pictures of promotional items for "Rabbit Songs." Huge thanks to Hem and their management for helping me get the information. |
February 11, 2004 -- News tidbits (and why it took me to so long to post them) |
First, I apologize for the lack of updates these past few weeks. I was vacationing around wonderful Australia and unable to update the site. Updates will now be more regular and timely. |

Hem has two shows scheduled in March in the northeast US. There's also a small update to the discography section about the UK edition of "Rabbit Songs." |

Finally, don't forget that the best way to celebrate Valentine's Day on Saturday is to download "Valentine's Day" from Amazon.com and to listen to it ad nauseum.

January 12, 2004 -- Meanings section launched |
I'd been planning to include a lyrics meanings section on the site, so when I got a suggestion to include an explanation of the band's name (thanks, Jeff!), I decided to launch the meanings section now, small as it is.

January 11, 2004 -- Site Launch |
Welcome to the first update! Thanks for visiting! |
Before I get to band news, a few words about this site. There is a tragic lack of websites about Hem, the official site being the only one I've seen in the year and a half I've known of and been a fan of the band. I hope that this site helps fill in some gaps and serves as a good stop for the latest Hem news. Fans are often the best source of news, and if you ever have any Hem news (album news, tour information, news articles, etc.), please feel free to send it to me if you don't already see it on the site. Also, comments and suggestions about the site are welcome, especially now at its inception when I'm still tweaking its format. More general information about the site can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions. |
There isn't much Hem news to report right now since Hem is busy recording their second album, a follow up to the magnificent "Rabbit Songs." Not much information is available on the new album yet, but as we near its anticipated Spring 2004 release, more information will no doubt be available. As of now, the album will likely include at least some of the new songs played on their last tour, including "Beautiful Sea," "Pacific Street," "Hollow," and "Carry Me Home" (so-called based on its chorus). |
Hem has one show date scheduled, and it's a FREE show! Catch them on Sunday, January 18, 2004 in Philadelphia at Kimmel Center Plaza. |
