ABC News Now
Below see an ABC News Now segment from October 11, 2004 featuring Hem in the studio recording Eveningland, plus a bonus take of "Lord, Blow The Moon Out Please" from Rabbit Songs. The 10 minute piece also includes a lot of commentary from Sally and Dan about Hem's genesis, album themes, and more. I first tried finding this video back on October 18, 2004 (back when this site looked crazy - thanks everyone for not kicking me off the Internet for that look), and I am so happy to have finally found it! You will be too. You can also find a link to the video at the interview archive. And anybody with that take of "Redwing" can contact me with that handy button on the left anytime.

Shakespeare and Hem
Exciting news! Hem is providing original music for The Public Theater's summer production of "Twelfth Night" at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The show runs June 10 - July 12 as part of the free, annual Shakespeare in the Park series in New York. The cast is great and includes Anne Hatheway and Audra MacDonald. Hem will not be performing the new music live every night, but do not despair because the new music recorded by the band will be played with live accompaniment. Read more about this fantastic show at the Public Theater's site and in a couple articles that mention Hem's involvement at the New York Times arts blog (thanks for the link, NYT) and Broadway World. Also go see what Hem has to say about giving Shakespeare the musical treatment at MySpace and Twitter.

You can also read a few words about the song's genesis in the band's April 4 blog entry (written by Dan). Sorry for the delay in reporting this free musical treat, but I've been very busy being warm and lazy on vacation in Belize - see gratuitous photo I took here.
